Jeffrey E. Crews - Attorney

Born in Chicago, Illinois where I was happily raised on many afternoon walks with my dad to Wrigley Field to take in the eternally optimistic Cubs in their perennial quest for the elusive pennant.

Mr. Crews graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a Economics, and a minor in Civil Engineering in 1986. He sadly left Austin in August of that year and stepped into his first real professional position as a business analyst for Allied Bancshares, the predecessor of Wells Fargo NA here in Texas. After a couple years I moved to First City Bank (which upon its second failure was acquired by Texas Commerce which is now Chase JP Morgan). From the buyout, the computer equipment, my fellow employees and I in data services were “sold” to EDS for whom I worked diligently and energetically for nearly eight years.

In 1996, I returned to Houston and commenced my legal education at the Thurgood Marshall School of Law at Texas Southern University. After three wonderful and yet grueling years I graduated cum laude with my Juris Doctorate. Prior to entering private practice, I served as a judicial clerk for the Honorable Calvin Botley, Chief Magistrate Judge for the United States District Court, Southern District of Texas.

While in law school I received the American Jurisprudence Awards (Praemium Excellentia) for Federal Taxation and Legal Remedies. Jeffrey was the Chapter Justice of the 1999 Outstanding Chapter of the Year of the Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, International, and a finalist for the International Outstanding Justice of the Year. I served the state of Texas as the District Justice for the Fraternity from 1999 to 2001 and currently serve as the District IX (Texas) President for the Pre-Law Chapters. Current member of the State Bar of Texas, Houston Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys, past member of the Houston Bar Association; National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys, and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America.

Mr. Crews has been active in the community serving as a Board Trustee of the Citizens’ Environmental Coalition from 2000 to 2003 and as Board Membership of Earth Share of Texas from 2002 to 2004. Mr. Crews currently volunteers his time and professional services to the Harris County Democratic Party and the Legacy Community Health Services.

An intrepid traveler and eligible bachelor, Jeffrey enjoys and cherishes his family and friends, and where ever they get together, be it in Austin, Beckenridge or Madrid.
